PROCESS
Week 1
We were divided into groups for the semester to analyse and design a campaign for a specific given brand. Our group was assigned
Loka Made. Loka Made is a Malaysian based creative merchandise brand that is known for local locations and heritage-inspired products. Our group members are:
- Chan Zhi-Ren Zenndan | 0369069
- Dow Jia Zheng | 0354184
- Erin Samantha Fenner | 0381696
- Teng Yu Meng | 0378688
We began by delegating specific roles to each member for the research process to make sure that the data collection and analysis could be completed in time.
Week 2
In this week, we worked on finishing our research analysis for Loka Made using the analysis template given by Mr Max.
We had our first consultation this week where Mr. Max confirmed that our research was heading in the right direction. He also gave us feedback on the sections on which we could improve on. Our discussion for the analysis focused on Loka Made’s inconsistent branding identity and opportunities regarding any BTS (Behind-the-Scenes) reels and User-Generated Content. We amended our documentation to focus on establishing a more unified identity and integrating these content pillars into our strategy. After we amended the analysis, we divided up the different sections of the presentation slides for the following week's presentation, where we needed to present our proposed campaign direction.

FEEDBACK
Mr. Max confirmed that our research was heading in the right direction while identifying specific areas for refinement. Our discussion centered on Loka Made’s inconsistent brand identity and opportunities regarding Behind-the-Scenes reels and User-Generated Content.
We received positive feedback regarding the design of our slides from the panelist. They noted that it felt like an actual branding presentation from Loka Made. The inclusion of relevant visual evidence, such as comments on Loka Made's social media and content samples, was commended for providing more support for our analysis.
Mr. Max also seperately noted that our brand introduction successfully captured Loka Made’s identity as a cultural and retail brand. A significant strength of the presentation was the content type analysis, where we clearly differentiated between routine product promotions and high-engagement drivers like community participation and event-based reels. Additionally, we accurately identified the brand’s warm, playful tone and connected audience feedback to a specific communication gap regarding event details and product availability.
REFLECTION
Through this project, I learned that social media strategy should not be based only on what looks visually appealing, but also on research, audience behaviour and engagement data. Analysing Loka Made’s content helped me understand how different types of posts perform and how the findings can be used to identify gaps in the brand’s communication. I also learned that every proposed solution needs a clear reason supported by the data instead of being included simply because it seems like a good idea.
As the group leader, I gained more experience in delegating tasks, organising the collected information and ensuring that the report and presentation remained consistent. Although dividing the workload allowed us to complete the project more efficiently, our presentation could have been smoother with more rehearsal and coordination between members. Overall, this project improved my understanding of how research, strategy and visual communication work together. Moving forward, I would focus more on directly connecting each identified problem to a specific solution and explaining how it could improve the brand’s social media performance.
